Apart from the beautiful nature that the Schorfheide offers there is a lot of other attractions for almost every interest in the nearby surroundings. The most famous sight are the monastery Chorin and the ship lift Niederfinow. Not far from Joachimsthal is the district town Eberswalde with an awarded zoo for small animals. It is called small, but nevertheless has as well a lot of big animals to offer. Eberswalde also offers a family park called Familiengarten, a great attraction for families and especially for the adventurous children. In Finowfurt a spectacular aviation museum can be visited. To explore nature from different perspectives the Blumberger Mühle is surely worth a visit and definitely the wildlife park Groß Schönebeck. Here a few links for further information about all these possibilities:

Here, in the Schorfheide, it is possible to go hiking, diving, swimming, sailing, horseback riding, angling, mushroom picking, riding in a carriage... In Joachimsthal the long distance bicycle paths  „Tour Brandenburg“ and „Berlin-Usedom“ intersect. It is also possible to rent pedelecs and bikes.

If the weather doesn't go by plan there is still a lot to see. For children the indoor playground Fotolino in Eberswalde is definitely a fun attraction. For history lovers the Museum in the hunting lodge in Groß Schönebeck is a must. But on top of all the thermal bath NaturTherme Templin will provide you the holiday relaxation that you were looking for.

Nevertheless you should start exploring the area in Joachimsthal. Not only the church designed by the famous Prussian architect Schinkel is worth a visit. The Biorama-project allows you a stunning wide view over the countryside from atop an old watertower. The project is connected with art exhibitions and is also easily accesible with a lift. On a sunny day it is even possible to see the TV tower in Berlin!

Also in winter the region has a lot to offer. In the hills around Joachimsthal are probably the best natural sledging possibilities in all of Brandenburg. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee snow or frost, but often we can already offer winter feelings when it is still much warmer in Berlin.

Our holiday apartment is the ideal starting point for all these experiences and for a lot of relaxation.

In a nutshell: You are very welcome in our Ferienwohnung Schorfheide!

Family Ruth Quentmeier and Christian Schnepf

The town of Joachimsthal is situated perfectly for nature lovers and invites to relax and discover. From our holiday apartment it is only a very few minutes to walk to Europe's largest connected forest area, the Schorfheide, in the heart of the biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin.

By bike we are very close to lake Werbellinsee, a beautiful lake with crystal clear water. The famous German writer Theodor Fontane adored this lake already, describing it in a romantic poem. We also love the fresh fish from the lake's fishery.

Equally close, just in the opposite direction, lake Grimmnitzsee is situated. This lake is very different, being flat and round, but is by no means less attractive. Lakes are to be found everywhere in the region. If you like to visit us in summer you can discover a new beach every day. In winter it might even be possible to go ice skating. Your hosts will tell you the best spots.
